This sharp-witted, slightly raunchy romcom follows platonic college pals (Nico Hiraga and Kiernan Shipka) who make a pact to split up with their respective high-school sweethearts over the Thanksgiving break. The pair believe romantic attachments from their earlier teens are standing in the way of their fully embracing the thrills of campus life, and plot how to do the deed during a wild party night ("Drunksgiving") back home. Inevitably, plans don't go as smoothly as hoped. Director and co-writer Jordan Weiss (creator of the US TV series Dollface) examines how relationships can change as adolescence gives way to adulthood, while liberally borrowing from the conventions of his chosen genre - the classic When Harry Met Sally... is referenced more than once - without adding anything new to how those films routinely play out. Hiraga and Shipka have good chemistry and the script affords them plenty of opportunities to show off their comic timing, but the overall story is slight and offers little in the way of surprises.
