Adapted from an early 1990s British comic strip, this stars Scott Adkins as assassin Mike Fallon, whose speciality is making his targets' deaths look like an accident. He's part of a group of misfits assembled by his mentor, Big Ray (Ray Stevenson), for paid hits. When Mike's pregnant ex-girlfriend is murdered, he sets out to hunt down the perpetrators. Co-writer Adkins keeps the source material's black humour and copies the bodily swagger of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (Nick Moran even has a cameo). Yet while the brutality, gore and swearing are present and correct, there is no polish. From the dialogue to the editing, this feels cheap. John Wick, released four years earlier, evokes more atmosphere in one simple shot than this achieves in 105 minutes. At least the fights liven things up: Adkins' opponents include Ray Park, aka Star Wars' Darth Maul, plus an energetic Amy Johnston, stunt double for Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
