This remarkable animated French/Czech science-fiction fantasy, conceived by Roland Topor and René Laloux, depicts the odd happenings on planet Yagam. There, humans, called Oms, are pets of the giant Draags, and numerous allegorical references are imaginatively drawn as a war breaks out between the two factions. A fascinating fable utilising impressive organic design, surreal composition and stunning visuals, this Cannes award-winner is highly intriguing and compulsive viewing.
