Summary
Oscar-nominated actor John Travolta makes his directorial debut with a tender drama set during the golden age of aviation, which he also narrates. A young airplane enthusiast named Jeff (Clark Shotwell) is excited to board an airplane with his mother Helen (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) bound for Hollywood. This one-way journey fires the boy's love of aviation as he talks to charming flight attendants Doris (Ella Bleu Travolta) and Liz (Olga Hoffmann) between meals. The cross-country odyssey leaves an indelible mark on Jeff and deepens his desire to become an airline pilot when he is older

John Travolta makes his directorial debut with this appealing fable about the golden age of aviation, inspired by his own 1997 children's book. Narrated by Travolta, the story tells of Jeff (debut actor Clark Shotwell), a wide-eyed eight-year-old boy and aeroplane fanatic. He takes his first ever flight with his actor mother Helen (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) on a TWA propeller plane, zigzagging across the States and stopping at various destinations before reaching Los Angeles. Running at just an hour, this is a brisk nostalgia trip, which romanticises the glamorous world of flying in the early 1960s. Scripted with wit by Travolta, the story may be one-note but it has charm, and a winning appearance from the film-maker's daughter Ella Bleu Travolta as a flight attendant. Beautifully styled from the costumes to the cabin interiors, the film pilots audiences back to a simpler time, when there was magic in the air.
