Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Jeremy Aspinall

Claustrophobes may be in a cold sweat from watching this deep-sea disaster drama about a quartet of divers trapped underwater in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Others may feel that director Ron Scalpello's second feature (following his gritty prison flick Offender) is floating in familiar waters. The scenario that leaves the men stranded in a submersible 670ft below the surface is certainly nightmarish and authentically staged. And the cast of Matthew Goode, Danny Huston, Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) and co-writer Alan McKenna give committed performances as they struggle to cheat their fate. It's perfectly watchable, if not quite on a nerve-shredding par with lung-busting thrillers like The Poseidon Adventure, The Abyss or Black Sea.
