Completely inconsequential when measured against its phenomenally successful progenitor, this fictional version of the early outlaw careers of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is still an enjoyable romp. William Katt and Tom Berenger bring oodles of charm to their roles as the cowboy heroes' younger selves, and director Richard Lester laces the ambitious material with the same wit and irony he brought to The Three Musketeers. Worth seeing for the highly amusing train robbery and the extraordinary sight of a flooded western town.
