The Top Toe and Trainspotting actors will be performing at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre in Perthshire, where Cumming works as Artistic Director.
Supernova is an acclaimed romance drama which originally starred Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci as Sam and Tusker; a couple whose lives are shaken by Tusker’s early-onset dementia diagnosis, so set off on a journey to relive their favourite memories.
The synopsis reads: "Supernova is an unmissable, searing examination of what we are willing to do for the people we love."

The 2020 film was well-received by critics and earned two BAFTA nominations.
Now, Macqueen is making his playwriting debut for the show's premiere, and will be joined by director John Tiffany and Movement Director Steven Hoggett.
The creative team also includes designer Jamie Harrison, responsible for the West End run of Stranger Things: The First Shadow, who is promising to give the show "new scale".
In the announcement Cumming said: "I am so excited to welcome Ewan, a fellow Perthshire home boy, to Pitlochry Festival Theatre for this extraordinary theatre event.

"Harry Macqueen has adapted his beautiful film, and John Tiffany and Steven Hoggett (fresh from their Pitlochry Festival Theatre triumph with Once) join forces with the theatrical wizard Jamie Harrison to create an evening of true magic.
"A love story, a treatise on life and death itself and a visual feast – with two Scottish laddies at its heart. What more could you want?!"
McGregor added: “I am so delighted to be working at Pitlochry Festival Theatre next summer on the beautiful Supernova with my old friend Alan.
"It’s going to be quite something to throw myself into this role with such an extraordinary group of visionaries. I can’t wait to get started and to bring this piece to the stage. I look forward to seeing you all there!”
For Cumming, who recently starred in Russell T Davies's Tip Toe, this will be his second season as artistic director at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre. The current season also includes A History of Paper, starring himself and Bridget Jones star Shirley Henderson.
Supernova will run from 24 July until 21 August 2027, with further casting to be announced later. Tickets go on sale via the Pitlochry website on Wednesday 12 August.
