The musical, written by David Greig and Abner and Amanda Ramirez, is based on the best-selling book by David Nicholls, which was adapted into a hugely successful Netflix show last year.

One Day the Musical premiered at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh earlier this year to great acclaim. Now, those in the UK capital can relive Em and Dex's story at the Garrick Theatre later this year.

This production will welcome the return of Jamie Muscato to the stage as Dex. Known for his roles in The Great Gatsby, Cabaret and Moulin Rouge, Muscato is steadily carving out his place in the canon of British musical theatre royalty.

The role of Em will be taken up by Sharon Rose, acclaimed for her roles in Sylvia and Hamilton. Rose has also featured on-screen in BBC’s Silent Witness and feature film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.

For those unfamiliar with the story of One Day, we follow Em and Dex, two friends who could be something more, on the same day of the year over the course of 20 years.

One Day the Musical's West End run will be produced by Melting Pot, with representatives Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska saying: "From the moment we encountered One Day, we recognised its extraordinary emotional power.

"With a remarkable creative team, a score that takes us on the emotional rollercoaster of Emma and Dexter’s journey, and the world-class talents of Jamie Muscato and Sharon Rose originating the lead roles, One Day The Musical promises to be a very special show indeed."
