The greek mythology musical has hit otherworldly levels this year, with the flagship song Wait For Me acting as the background music for practically every movie compilation or relationship video.

This craze has only doubled in size over the summer when the recording of Hadestown: The Musical began screening in US cinemas, following its world premiere at Tribeca Festival on 8 June.

Much like the Disney+ recording of Hamilton, this film shows the stage version of Hadestown up close, using various camera shots to allow audiences to get in among the action.

The show was filmed live at the West End's Lyric Theatre but with five of the original Broadway cast: Reeve Carney, André De Shields, Amber Gray, Eva Noblezada, and Patrick Page, alongside members of the original West End cast.

Hadestown retells the fated story of Orpheus and Eurydice, two loves who are separated by the underworld and do everything to get back to each other.

The show places the ancient myth in a New Orleans-style jazz bar with the music heavily influenced by the genre. The show first hit Broadway in 2019 and won eight Tony Awards in 2019, including Best Musical, and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
