The West End production of Oh, Mary! is quickly building up quite the collection of British TV names – first we had Doctor Who stars Catherine Tate and Jinx Monsoon, and now, everyone's favourite Georgian lady Lolly Adefope.

The actress is best known for her role as Kitty in Ghosts and her appearance in season four of Taskmaster, but now she's set to make her West End debut as Mary Todd Lincoln this September.

For the uninitiated, Oh, Mary! is a dark comedy about the life of Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The 80-minute show sees the unfortunate Mary grow steadily more unhinged as she struggles with alcoholism and her suffocating lifestyle.

The show has so far seen four actors take up the lead role: Mason Alexander Park, Cole Escola, Catherine Tate and Jinx Monsoon. Meanwhile, the Broadway production has just announced its new lead in SNL star Bowen Yang.

Oh, Mary!

Oh, Mary! has so far had a hugely successful London run, with a slew of five-star reviews and an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. The show also scooped up Tonys for best leading actor and best direction following its sensational Broadway run.

Adefope will take over from Monsoon from 28 September to 6 December alongside Giles Terera as Mary’s Husband, Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher, Kate O'Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone and Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant.

Adefope is also set to star in the Ghosts sequel film, titled Ghosts: The Possession of Button House, coming to cinemas on 23 October.

When and where can I see Oh, Mary!?

Adefope will be starting her run in Oh, Mary! on 28 September to 6 December. The show is running at London's Trafalgar Theatre continually until then.
