A star rating of 2 out of 5.

A brother and sister are whisked away to a magical land in this fantasy movie that plays like The Lego Movie but with less memorable characters and a fatally unfocused plot. A rushed live-action segment sets us up for the main animated action, which sees Marla (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her brattish sibling Charlie (Gabriel Bateman) colliding with a host of toy characters, including a James Bond-style spy called Rex Dasher, voiced by Daniel Radcliffe. Small children will enjoy the chaos and bright colours, but the film never slows down long enough to tell a proper story and rise above the level of product placement.
