It’s dog eat dog in the Castle now, with fewer and fewer players pretending that it’s a team sport.

The most blatant of these was evident in this episode’s mission – something to do with a cabin, some spooky clues and the chance for gold or one single Shield – with Sam saying from the off he was seeking the latter. “That was suspicious,” said everyone as he raced out of the cabin. “It felt like treacherous behaviour,” mused Ellie later. Was it, though? Wouldn’t you be just as likely to do that if you were a Faithful? If only there was someone in there who’d undertaken FBI training to spot a liar…

It didn’t do him any good, mind you, as he was swiftly banished. Moral of the story: pretend it’s a team sport until the very final credits.

Round tables in recent days have seen the confrontational aspect turned up to the max. The fisticuffs between Fiona and Rachel – Traitor on Traitor, lest we forget – was swiftly followed by the fall of Harriet, but with her ruthless attempt to take several people down with her. How is Rachel still standing after all that, let alone undiscovered?

With only four episodes to go, who’s your money on emerging victorious?

Who’s flourishing:

Despite Matthew’s deal with the devils, Jessie remains un-murdered, she’s never even had a mention at the Round Table, and has succeeded in befriending everyone. She’s even onto Stephen. What a good Traitor she’d make. If she makes it through the night. And why does nobody ever, ever mention Jack?

Rachel must have used up several of her Traitor’s lives by now, but she’s lived to see another visit to the Turret. Instead, it’s Stephen who’s starting to feel others’ eyes on him, and he can’t murder all of them.
