Where do we find Bibi in series two?
Everyone seems to be getting on with their lives and Bibi is in a better place – she’s less rageful now that JP is gone [he caused the accident that led to Bibi losing an eye]. She’s starting to think about expanding her family through IVF and we deal with the struggles that come with that.
Does it feel important to be part of a show that explores topics like IVF in such a relatable way?
Absolutely. It’s unusual to see five women leading a show and dealing with things like the menopause, coercive control and domestic abuse. And it’s the way that Sharon tells those stories, because it’s a comedy thriller drama. We want to be respectful around those dark themes, but then it’s thinking: where do we push the humour? Where do we pull back? In our darkest moments, we need to laugh. That’s why the show is so successful – people relate to it and want to see stories like this about women.
The show explores the different dynamics between the five sisters — do you have siblings?
I have one sister. We’re incredibly close, I’d do anything for her. Luckily, I adore her husband! I would find it very difficult if she was with someone like JP. That’s what people love about the show – the family dynamic and sisterhood. They’re messy, complex, multi-layered women, which is so refreshing to see on TV.
Do you think you’d be different if you’d grown up with four sisters?
As well as my sister, I grew up with lots of cousins. There was a gang of ten of us, mainly girls. We spent our summers together in Kerry. I completely get that family dynamic and the roles you end up playing in it.
Do you feel like you and the other cast members are sisters now, too?
We absolutely are. We’re a family, and we love working together. We’ve spent a lot of time together in between shoots – myself and Eva’s kids are the same age so they’re really good friends. We all talk daily, sharing advice on everything from interiors to our love lives.
Do you have much in common with your character?
I would love to be a bit more Bibi – she says it like it is and doesn’t care what people think, whereas I’m a people pleaser. But that’s the joy of playing her. She’s a boss.
Has there been talk of a third series?

I’d work with the girls for the rest of my life, but we don’t know yet. I’d be very keen.
