What’s Margo up to this series?
The office remains her terrain. Tony Jordan told me at the end of series one that he had a host of stories for Margo. I guess they’re playing the long game.
Margo is quietly in charge at the station. Is it the same off-camera?
No, we have General Marshall… He’s not at all bossy but he has a humorous, quiet authority. He appears with a whoosh of energy.
Did you have a feeling the series was going to be a big hit?
Tony Jordan has an incredible track record, and Kris has something extraordinary on camera, so I knew I was in good hands.
You’ve also played Lynn, Alan Partridge’s assistant. Do people expect Lynn when they meet you?
I’m hardly ever recognised. Only one time in 40 years of work, going into the O2 Arena to watch the live Alan Partridge show, I could hardly get up the escalator for fans of the show. I was amazed. I’m just a character actress. I’m happy backing up other people.
Who else would you like to work with?

I’m actually about to work with Lee Mack and Sally Bretton in an episode of Not Going Out. It’s a great script and good fun.
