THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE ROME
At the age of 86, Sir Ridley Scott is returning to the amphitheatre. Some 24 years since Russell Crowe's Maximus had his vengeance, Oscar-winner Scott has decided it's time for Gladiator II, a sequel set decades after the original film. It stars Normal People's Paul Mescal as Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) who was sent into hiding in Numidia as a child.

However, when a Roman army led by the general Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal) sees Lucius's home decimated, he is brought back to the Italian capital as a prisoner of war and forced to fight as a gladiator in the arena. Alongside Mescal, Pascal and Nielsen are Denzel Washington and Stranger Things's Joseph Quinn, with the film set for a cinema release on 15 November 2024. Gird your loins for another revenge epic of sand fights, swords and sandals.

Apple TV+ has dropped a new teaser trailer for the second season of the wildly popular Adam Scott series Severance, confirming it's coming our way on 17 January 2025. That's still quite a while to wait, but thankfully we have a new trailer to tide us over. The new footage starts with Mark (Scott), Helly (Britt Lower) and co verbally giving their consent for the severance procedure seen in the first series. But, as fans know from previous episodes, things aren't that simple. We see the employees of Lumon Industries seemingly running for their lives, before being offered an ominous first look at Gwendoline Christie's new character, who tells Mark and Helly, "You should have left."
