You’re based in Surrey, so this role means spending 18 weeks away from home. How do you spend your free time?
I stay near Plymouth in an apartment, so I can cook for myself. I love going to the cinema. I don’t know anyone here outside the cast and crew, but I’d love to make some friends, so come and say hi!
What’s in store for Kelby?
He’s still on his journey for love. We’re all rooting for him — he’s a bit lonely and it would do him good.
You have most of your office scenes with the rest of the police team. Who’s the real boss?
We look up to Kris, then Zahra’s very organised so she’d be next, then Felicity and me joint third.
The finale of your teenage comedy Big Boys got a huge response from fans. How did you know you’d hit a nerve?
I got messages from friends, but also from strangers on social media. They told me they were sobbing, the show meant so much to them. It’s so beautiful to see the response, especially for Jack [Rooke, the writer] — it’s his story and heart that’s in the project.
Is there scope for a further series, or is it resolved?

I sense it’s finished, but hopefully Jack can write something else — new characters, same cast, like Tarantino. I’ll be his Tim Roth.
