"It's good fun, playing a really terrible person," Anna Maxwell Martin says while reflecting on her role in new drama Star City. You know the British actor for her steel and smile across Line of Duty, Motherland and many more – to the point where few screen stars can boast such versatility. In Star City, she is ruthless KGB handler Lyudmilla Raskova, a key part of Apple TV's alternative history that follows what might have happened had the Soviet Union won the space race.
With the drama set to become one of the most highly rated dramas of the year to date (not least by our own RT critics), we sat down with Maxwell Martin to hear what shows and films have informed her life and work — and the answers were as varied as you might expect for someone with such a broad CV.
